Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland is Northern California's only freestanding and independent children's hospital. With 240,000 inpatient and outpatient visits a year, and 50,000 emergency room visits, Children's is a leader in caring for the region's most seriously ill and injured children. Children with cancer, heart disease, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy and other chronic and serious conditions receive world-class healthcare in a warm, family-centered environment.
Children's Hospital Oakland is regarded internationally as a leader in research and treatment of pediatric blood diseases. Its sickle cell program is the largest in the Western United States, and it was the first hospital in the Western Hemisphere to cure alpha thalassemia major.
Children's Hospital has the busiest level 1 pediatric trauma center between Los Angeles and Seattle, and its Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is the region's largest. Children's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the regional referral center for high-risk neonates.
The research institute at Children's is developing new vaccines for infectious diseases and discovering new treatment protocols for conditions such as cancers, diabetes, asthma, HIV/AIDS, pediatric obesity, nutritional deficiencies, birth defects and cystic fibrosis.

Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford
Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford offers patients locally, regionally and nationally a full range of health care programs and services, from preventive and routine care to the diagnosis and treatment of serious illness and injury. With 272 beds devoted to the care of children and expectant mothers, the hospital is one of the few children's hospitals in the U.S. to provide both pediatric and obstetric medical and surgical services. Children's Hospital Central California is a not-for-profit, state-of-the-art children's hospital on a 50-acre campus with a medical staff of more than 450 physicians. Children's treats more inpatient cases than any pediatric hospital north of San Diego, making it the second largest children's hospital in the state. Children's was the first pediatric hospital west of the Rockies to receive Magnet Nursing designation, the highest nursing benchmark in the world. The 315-bed facility is one of the 10 largest hospitals of its type in the nation.
Its primary service area encompasses over 45,000 square miles, stretching from Stockton to Bakersfield and the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Childrens Hospital Los Angeles
Founded in 1901, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles has been treating the most seriously ill and injured children in Los Angeles for more than a century, and it is acknowledged for its leadership in pediatric and adolescent health. It is one of America's premier teaching hospitals, affiliated with the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. It is a national leader in pediatric research.
Childrens Hospital Los Angeles treats 62,000 patients a year in its Emergency Department. It admits more than 11,000 children a year to the hospital, 50-percent children under five years of age. There are about 287,000 visits a year to its 29 outpatient clinics. Training programs at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles include 360 medical students, 83 full-time residents, three chief residents and 86 fellows, who collectively reflect the diversity of the patient population and the city of Los Angeles.
The Saban Research Institute is among the largest and most productive pediatric research facilities in the United States, with 102 investigators at work on 261 laboratory studies, clinical trials and community-based research and health services. Its base of knowledge is widely considered to be among the best in pediatric medicine.

Loma Linda University Children's Hospital

Loma Linda University Children's Hospital serves more than 1.2 million children in San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo, and Mono Counties. With over 250 beds, it is recognized as a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Emergency Center, providing the highest level of trauma care within the Inland Empire four-county area.
Each year, more than 12,000 children stay at the hospital and over 100,000 children visit the hospital for ambulatory care. The only medical facility in the Inland Empire specializing in the care of children, Loma Linda University (LLU) Children's Hospital transports over 1,000 critically ill or injured children each year from surrounding hospitals.
Loma Linda University Children's Hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is an 84-bed tertiary referral center that serves critically ill infants and their families. Each year, the hospital's NICU is the first home to approximately 1,400 babies, cared for by 313 professionals. The Children's Hospital houses six pediatric care units including intensive care, cardiac intensive care, neonatal intensive care, as well as oncology and stem cell transplant. As a national leader in infant heart transplantation, LLU Children's Hospital performs more heart transplants than any other center of its kind.

Miller Children's Hospital at Long Beach
Founded in 1970, Miller Children's Hospital is a not–for–profit children's hospital located on the campus of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. The 308–bed hospital cares for children of all ages, from newborns to young adults, as well as expectant mothers. Miller Children's Hospital, one of only two children's hospitals in Los Angeles County, is home to one of the largest Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in California, treating more high-risk infants daily than any other hospital in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.
In addition, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides comprehensive care for the most serious pediatric cases. Many of these cases come through its Pediatric Emergency Department and Trauma Center, the region's only county-designated centers.
Today, Miller Children's admits more than 8,000 youngsters annually, sees more than 120,000 children in its outpatient clinics, treats more than 25,000 in its Emergency Department and cares for more than 1,000 newborns in its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, many of whom are transferred from other institutions. Miller Children's Hospital is a major pediatric teaching hospital for the School of Medicine at University of California, Irvine, and is one of the 10 largest pediatric training programs in the country.

Children's Hospital of Orange County
Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is a regional pediatric healthcare system that includes a 232-bed, tertiary-level pediatric hospital located in the city of Orange and a 48-bed children's hospital located on the 5th floor of Mission Hospital's patient care tower in Mission Viejo and linked to the hospital's regional trauma center, high-level obstetric and perinatal programs, and ancillary services. CHOC offers the full range of pediatric healthcare programs and services – from preventive and routine to the diagnosis and treatment of serious illness and injury.
In addition to the two hospital campuses, CHOC has a large specialty care clinic in Orange and several community clinics and outreach programs throughout Orange County; a residency program; four centers of excellence - the Heart, Cancer, Orthopaedic and Neuroscience Institutes; and a Research Institute that brings advanced treatment to patients.
CHOC recently earned the Bronze Level CAPE Award from the California Council of Excellence – the only children's hospital in California to ever earn this distinction, and was one of only eight children's hospitals in the nation to be named to the Leapfrog "Top Hospitals 2007" list, based on results from The Leapfrog Group's Hospital Quality and Safety Survey.

Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego
Founded in 1954, Rady Children's Hospital is a 248-bed tertiary care facility providing the largest source of comprehensive pediatric medical services in San Diego and Imperial counties. As the sole hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare, Rady Children's is the region's only designated pediatric trauma center. In 2007, 143,000 patients were treated at Rady Children's Hospital.
Rady Children's has a 54-bed Pediatric Critical Care unit and a 38-bed Neonatal Intensive care unit, along with the only comprehensive pediatric Cancer Care Center in San Diego, which includes both inpatient and outpatient care. There are a number of pediatric medical and behavioral health specialty services including rehabilitation, orthopedic services, transplant services, respiratory care, psychiatry, trauma counseling and a full range of surgical services.
Rady Children's has become one of the leading pediatric hospitals in America and was the country's first children's hospital to receive the prestigious Ernest A. Codman Award in recognition for its pioneering work in quality of care. Rady Children's is the major pediatric partner of the Sharp and Scripps health care systems and, in 2001, signed an historic agreement combining the University of California-San Diego pediatric programs with Rady Children's.
